toggle navigation home history of evolve principles & values user involvement our services accommodation training for young people training and consultancy services family group conferencing professional social work more complaints & representation health & safety staff & staff training contact us tel: 01603 510435 (monday to friday 9am to 5.30pm) out of hours telephone: 07572 382308 (for emergencies only please) [email protected] empower "make someone more confident, especially in controlling their life." move "make progress; develop in a particular manner or direction." grow "to develop and reach maturity." what we do is a community interest company established in 2014, working for and with children, young people and families. evolve provides a range of services for young people aged 16 to 24 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. for those who are in need of accommodation we believe that good quality safe accommodation must come first if young people are to feel safe and secure enough to meet the challenges which face them. evolve offers a range of accommodation and allied services to provide for the diverse need of the young people who are referred to the service. in addition to working with young people whose primary need at the point of referral is in relation to homelessness, we provide a range of interventions and support to children, young people and families of all ages, including family group conferencing, family support and social work assessment services, respite accommodation and transition related services which support the successful journey to independence, education and employment. whilst evolve works with young people on an individual basis, as an organisation we value opportunities for working with young people in a variety of group settings. we believe that this helps to build young people's self-esteem, that they benefit from the experience of others and this helps them to feel part of and engaged with the community. meet the team shaun burland manager (social care, support & consultancy) i have been working at cic since its conception in july 2014. i decided to work within evolve as i wanted the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of the young people that we work with. in my role it is my aim to provide services that empower our young people to aspire and achieve. i believe that the young people who use our services should play an integral part in the development of those services and that as an organisation we should judge our own success by the success of those young people. i have worked in social care for over 30 years. i became a qualified social worker in 1989. since then i worked within safeguarding and corporate parenting teams for norfolk county council. i established norfolk county council’s family group conferencing service. the benefit of this service is that it was effective in reducing the numbers of children who became looked after and in returning looked after children to their families. after leaving family group conferencing, i became the head of norfolk county council’s fostering service with responsibilities for over 400 fostering households. from june 2011 through to 2014 i was part of an independent fostering agency working firstly as a regional manager responsible for developing the service within the eastern region and subsequently as the national operations director. i have been the social care, support & consultancy manager for evolve since july 2014. gemma cox director i have worked in homelessness and support focussed services for 15 years for voluntary, charitable and statutory services including within a night shelter, secure unit, and drug and alcohol residential treatment settings. most recently i have worked for a local district council as a homelessness prevention officer and later a strategy and projects officer. i completed my professional qualification in 2007. over this time i have built up a good understanding of the difficulties vulnerable adults and young people face when moving into independence for the first time. we understand that many people are unable to find suitable and affordable accommodation. the failure to find a suitable home can seriously impact on other areas of people’s lives such as finding work or being able to continue with their education. shaun and i have been colleagues and friends for a number of years, during which time we have discussed problems we perceived for our mutual clients and how we thought things could be done differently. after a series of unexpected events we decided to set up a new service ourselves and evolve came into being. the company is ‘not for profit’ and has been built around our shared principles, values and beliefs. it is important to me that we are a non-hierarchical company where everyone – staff and young people -
